Parks Family Papers


Will of William Parks

dated August 19, 1875

     In the name of the Benevolent Father of All --

     I, William Parks of Muskingum County in the State of Ohio, do make and publish this my last will and testament;

     Item first: I give and devise to my daughter Eliza Jane and her heirs in money the amount of Five Hundred Dollars and to my daughter Isabella and her heirs the sum of Eight Hundred Dollars and to my daughter Mary and her heirs the sum of Five Hundred Dollars and to the heirs of my deceased son James I give and devise to each herein named Eliza Jane, John, Sarah, William, Samuel, James the sum of Fifty Dollars apiece.

     Item second: I devise and bequeath to my son Samuel and his heirs the farm on which I now reside containing about One Hundred acres situate in Muskingum County in the State of Ohio.

     Item third: It is my will that my said son Samuel shall keep and sustain my beloved wife Jane during her life and to pay to each of the above heirs and legatees the sums as heretofore stated and to pay all my expenses and debts which have or may accrue.

     Item four: I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Samuel executor of this my last will and testament, hereby authorizing and empowering him to compromise adjust release and discharge in such matter as he may deem proper the debts and claims due me. I do also authorize and empower him to pay my debts to sell any property by private or public sale or in such manner upon such terms of credit or otherwise as he may think proper.

     I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made.

     In testimony hereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of August, A.D. 1875.
