Will of James Elliott

In the name of God Amen this fourteenth day of January in the year of our Lord God one
thousand seven hundred and eighty five, I James Elliott being sick in body but of a sound and desposing mund and memory
do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz:
First and principally of all I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it hoping the merits of my
saviour to obtain eternal life and my body to the ground to be buried in a decent Christian like manner at the discretion
of my executor and executrix hereafter appointed.
Imprimis, I give and bequeath unto Mary Elliott my beloved wife during her widowhoods, the Plantation whereon I at present live,
however to contain no more than Thirty acres being part of a tract of land called Elliotts Risque, to be laid off as near my
dwelling House as possible without Injuring the parts of said tract now in the possession of my son James Elliott, the peaceable
possession of which I do hereby confirm to him and I likewise give and bequeath unto my aforesaid Wife all and singular my
moveable Estate of which kind soever which at my decease I shall be possessed of to be disposed of at my said Wife in her
discretion shall think proper and after the marriage or decease of my aforesaid wife whichever first happens.
I give and devise unto my son James Elliott all the patent Land that I am now possessed of that is to
say the whole of that Tract or parcel of lands called Elliotts Risque containing two Hundred acres more or less to him my said son
James his Heirs and assigns in fee simple forever.
Item I give and bequeath unto my son John Elliott my Right and Title in all the manner Land that I
am at present possessed of and also the sum of one shilling sterling.
Item I give and bequeath unto Jemima Enloes the sum of one shilling sterling and no more.
Item I give and bequeath unto Michael Elliott my son the sum of one shilling sterling and no more.
Item I give and Bequeath unto the Heirs of my daughter Mary Enloes the sum of one shilling sterling and no more.
Item I give and bequeath unto Sarah Robinson the sum of one shilling sterling and no more.
Item I give and bequeath unto Susannah Neill one cow (?) and one shilling sterling and no more.
Item I give and bequeath unto my son William Elliott and his Heirs the sum of one shilling sterling and no more.
Item I give and bequeath unto Kezia Hooper the sum of one shilling sterling to her or any claiming for her and no more.
Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth McBroom and Heirs the sum of one shilling sterling and no more.
Item I give and bequeath unto Karenhappuck McBroom and Heirs the sum of one shilling and no more.
And I do hereby constitute and appoint my aforesaid wife Mary and my son James Elliott my whole and sole
Executor and Executrix jointly to this my last will and Testament hereby revoking and disannulling all manner of Wills or Gifts
heretofore made by me ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament.
